Meet our School Social Worker!
Dear Families,
Welcome to Hamilton Elementary Middle School during this unprecedented and challenging year. My name is David McHale. I have been the School Social at Hamilton Elementary School for the past 14 years, 29 years in the field of social work. I am here to help support your family and the school’s effort to help your child feel safe, help them manage their emotions, and continue to learn and grow.
A brief outline of some of my responsibilities, so you will know what a social worker can does in the school setting:
● Crisis Intervention: bereavement, self-injury or harm to self.
● Individual and group counseling: meet with students weekly or monthly working on issues such as, peer relations, anxiety, stress.
● Classroom interventions: work with the classroom teacher and develop plans to help students manage behavior in the classroom
● Consultant: I’m available for parents and teachers to ask questions for referral information for community emergency services, mental health, and homelessness resources
